Nestro briquettes are round cylinders 8-9 cm in diameter and 20-30 cm long, sometimes with a small hole in the middle. They are made on an impact (mechanical) press without heating, so the surface is light, as with RUF, and the density is 0.9-1.0 g/cm³, halfway between RUF and Pini-Kay. This is usually the most affordable type of wood briquette per tonne.
How they burn. Calorific value about 4.5-5 kWh per kilogram, moisture up to 10%, ash content up to 1.5%. Nestro catch quickly and burn with a lively flame for 2-3 hours: a fuel for boilers that need to reach temperature fast, and for stoves. On smoulder they hold embers less well than Pini-Kay, so for "overnight" mode it is better to combine them with peat briquettes or choose Pini-Kay.
Features. The round shape stacks less neatly than RUF "bricks", and Nestro chip at the edges a little more often in transport; this does not affect burning. The shrink-wrapped pack holds the briquettes together.
Wood species. Most often mixed, with softwood predominating; hardwood versions are also available. For a boiler the difference is mainly in the price.
Packaging. A 10 kg pack in shrink film; a pallet is 96 packs, about 960 kg, delivered to your gate. For boiler houses: by the pallet, delivered by carrier.
